Britney vs. Whitney?

Oh man!! I love, love, love this and I hope it's true! If you had to choose whose Comeback you're most looking foward to, who would it be? Brit or Whitney?

Of course Whitney is far more talented than Britney. But I have to admit - her years of crackin' and whackin' with Bobby Brown really took their toll on me. Britney, however, I'm still interested in.

Who do you think will score the first post-crazy Brit interview??? I'm going with Diane Sawyer and then Oprah.


Britney Spears is set to go head to head with Whitney Houston in the Christmas album charts after impressing label bosses with demos from recent studio work.

Spears’ last album, Blackout, received a lukewarm response; and bosses at her record company feared the troubled singer had blown it.

But now, the 26-year-old is being lined-up to “thrash” pop’s ultimate fallen diva with a new album which is reportedly due for release later this year.

A source said: “Britney has been on fire in the studio of late.

“During recording sessions for the last album she was consumed by her chaotic private life.

“But she is determined to make a triumphant comeback. Top brass have been amazed by the quality of tracks they’ve heard.

“Whitney is set for another relaunch at the same time later in the year. They’re determined Brit will come out on top.”

Houston — whose last album of original material was released in 2002 — appears to have conquered her drugs demons; and has lined up some top talent to help her on her comeback quest.

Black Eyed Peas star Will-i-am, R. Kelly, and John Legend have all written tracks for Whitney, and her next single will be a collaboration with Akon.

Ashlee Simpson says she'll never spin out of control like Britney or Lindsay.

As if she's as big a star as either of those girls. I mean, sure - they've had some huge problems, but they were (and could still be) A-List stars!! Ashlee - you'll never be above a B.

Ashlee Simpson has vowed not to follow in the same, destructive footsteps as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

Simpson — who recently announced her engagement to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz — says that unlike Spears and Lohan, she is in control of her career.

She says, “I don’t see myself ever following the path those girls take.

“I’m almost 24, I’m pretty together and I’m getting married.

“I wouldn’t ever let myself get that way and I don’t surround myself with ‘yes’ people. I think that’s the most important thing.”

She continues, “People don’t control me or anything I do and I’ve never had that problem.

“Pete’s my support system,” she says of her future husband, “we definitely give honest opinions of each other. I love his music and he’s so supportive of everything I do.

The 23-year-old also spoke about her collaboration with super-producer Timbaland, saying it was important the material for hew new album, Bittersweet World, didn’t sound anything like the music the hip-hop star has made with Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado.

She adds to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “It was so cool to work with Timbaland but it was important for the end result not to sound like one of his tracks.

“He really got me and who I am as a person, so the music still has this rock element going on, but with an ’80s sound.

“I’d never worked with anyone who’d done done beats. But I was like: ‘Ah, I really this like world.’

Britney Headed To Louisiana

I'm sure this will be nice for Britney and Jamie Lynn.

Britney Spears is heading home for her pregnant sister Jamie Lynn’s baby shower.

The ‘Toxic’ star is reportedly leaving Los Angeles later today to arrive in Kentwood, La., in time for tomorrow’s bash at mom Lynne Spears’ house, Serenity. Britney was last seen in Kentwood in November 2006.

An insider tells Life & Style magazine: “The shower’s on Saturday at Lynne’s house.

“At first, Jamie [Britney’s dad] didn’t think it was a good idea for Brit to go. He thought it might create chaos in Kentwood, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to put Jamie Lynn — or Britney — in the middle of that.

“Britney can’t travel without Jamie’s permission, so she worked really hard to talk him into it; it was so important for her to be there for her little sister.

“He finally gave in, knowing it’d be good for Brit and Jamie Lynn to finally see each other.”

Britney Blows $61M

Britney Spears has blown $61m this past year, it has been revealed.

The troubled singer’s father — who was named co-conservator of her estate on February 1 — made the discovery after going through her books.

“It’s staggering how much money has been used up,” a Spears family friend says.

The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker has been forced to shell out a fortune on expensive legal bills, rehab and psychiatric care, as well as losing money due to her inability to work since her infamous head shaving incident in February 2007 and her admittance into a psychiatric ward earlier this year.

Robert Bianchi, an LA-based CPA who isn’t an accountant for Britney, said: “By not touring for her last album [Blackout], she lost out on $50 million.”

Jamie Spears hired his own accountants to examine Britney’s accounts, and bring an end to the 26-year-old’s excessive spending. “It’s been quite a challenge getting things under control,” the insider says.

Britney back to "How I Met Your Mother"

Another positive move for Brit.


Britney Spears is set to return to How I Met Your Mother.

“The show is ecstatic and so is Britney,” a source tells People.com. “She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more.”

The Toxic star, 26, will do just the one episode, the source says. Fox studios would not confirm the appearance.

The singer appeared on the March 24 episode, playing a a bubbly, sweet, receptionist at a dermatologist’s office who fell for one of the show’s main characters, played by Josh Radnor. She received wide accolades for the spot.

“She was hilarious in the table-read, and I got to see her do the run-through as well, and she was great,” cast member Jason Segal said.

However, another How I Met Your Mother star — Neil Patrick Harris — recently said the CBS sitcom “does not need stunt casting [like Britney Spears] in order to succeed”, adding, “I worry that if they start ‘Will and Grace’-ing us too much, that the show will suffer.

“And we’re all really proud of the content of the show. I mean, viewership is not our game,” he said. “It’s the network and the studio’s game, you know. It’s the promotion department’s game.”

Britney has been the most high-profile celebrity guest to visit the set, following past appearances by Mandy Moore, Enrique Iglesias and Heidi Klum.

Spears’ cameo created so much buzz that 10.6 million viewers tuned into watch the episode — roughly 2-million more than the sitcom — which has grown a cult following since its 2005 debut — averages per showing. Among the 18-49-year old demographic, it was the most-watched episode of the series ever.

Britney Involved in Minor Car Accident

Ho hum. But look at her hair!! It looks like she finally got some decent extensions! Wow! This is truly a sign that things are getting back on track for the troubled pop princess. Yay!

Oh yeah. I think everyone is ok after the accident. Just a little fender bender. But I hear they did give her a breathalyzer.

Britney Comeback ON

With Larry Rudolph back in the picture, it's pretty clear that a Britney Comeback is in the works. Whether she's well enough to pull it off is still unclear. But I'm rooting for her! A Britney comeback would be so much cooler than an NKOTB comeback!

Britney Spears’s former manager, Larry Rudolph, says the Toxic singer is “in great shape”, but remained coy about reports he and the troubled star are back in business together.

“I’ve seen her a few times over the past week or two. I’ve spent some time with her just socially. I’ve gone up to the house. I’ve sat with her. She’s in great shape,” Rudolph said Thursday on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show. “I couldn’t be happier to see the condition she’s in. But this is not a time to talk about business with her.”

Addressing the star’s recent troubles, Larry said, “What she needs now is she needs the public to be on her side and root for her, because she deserves it and that means a lot to her.”

Larry went on to praise the singer’s recent appearance on CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, and told Seacrest that if he was advising Spears, he’d suggest that she “do another little thing like that” soon.

When Seacrest asked about other forces back in the singer’s life – namely her parents – Rudolph replied: “She needs people around her who are there for the right reasons.”

Is Britney Getting Help?

Lately I've been wondering...is Jamie Spears trying to save his daughter's life or her career? Admittedly since he has been on the scene Britney seems to have been tamed. But she's obviously mentally ill! And Jamie is brokering sitcom deals for her?! Why don't you broker her a stint out of Hollywood under the care of some professionals who can help her get her sanity back.

Britney Spears is back in the studio working on another album - but if her conservator/dad, Jamie, has his way, she'll stop the music and concentrate on her TV career. A Spears insider said, "Britney did a great job on 'How I Met Your Mother.' She got the show its highest ratings yet, but more importantly for Jamie, he wants his daughter at a normal 9-to-5 job to keep her working and out of trouble. A sitcom would do that. So he's exploring several offers for Britney to have her own show." Spears has also been offered a guest-starring stint on "30 Rock." (Source: Page Six)

Madonna: Step Off Brit!

Madonna wants the press to leave Britney alone. And from what I hear, she'll get her wish. The paps have been saying for awhile now that since Brit's been under dad Jamie's care she's no longer very interesting and they're planning to move onto Miley Cyrus. Poor Miley. I wonder how Brit will handle THAT?!

“They need to step off,” she told the “Yo on E!” satellite radio show. “For real … Let’s go save her.”

The singer, who’s married to film director Guy Ritchie, also said 11-year-old daughter Lourdes “gets the drift of what’s going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney.”

On Thursday, Madonna, who celebrates her 50th birthday later this year, also revealed she enjoys listening to Spears’ Blackout album while exercising. The two singers famously shared a kiss on the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards and collaborated on the song “Me Against the Music.”

Madonna also revealed her plans to spend the summer in New York and said she may go on tour in the fall to promote her new album, Hard Candy, out April 29.

Despite Britney Spears’ appearance on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ getting the show its highest ever ratings, and being hailed a ‘comeback’ for the troubled star, her three-day stint on set of the CBS sitcom was a “pain”, and caused delays in filming due to her “erratic demeanor”, insiders claim.

“Her mood changes are so sudden, you don’t understand where they’re coming from,” the insider tells Star magazine.

And at one point, the Toxic star got into a telephone fight with younger sister Jamie Lynn — because the pregnant teen had called Britney’s ex, Kevin Federline. Standing in a hallway, says a source, Britney was heard shouting into the phone, “You’re turning on me like everyone else. First Mama wanted to sleep with Kevin and now you’re calling him. And you live in a house I paid for!”

The 26-year-old then started asking people on the set if they liked puppies.

“It was a pain having her on the set,” the insider says. “She made everything take so much longer because of all the drama she caused. Almost no one wants her back!”

Britney Spears & Mel Gibson Working Together?

Wow! People.com is reporting that Britney Spears and Mel Gibson were both a part of a private group business dinner. What in the world could they have been discussing?? Anyone know?


Only on Planet Britney. On Saturday Britney Spears started the day with another visit from her sons Preston and Jayden, and ended the evening at a Russian restaurant for a dinner meeting with Mel Gibson.

The actor and the pop star – once neighbors in an exclusive Malibu community – were part of a two-hour group dinner at the Romanov restaurant in Studio City on Saturday.

"It was exciting to have both of them here together," says one restaurant source. "We heard they hit it off and that Britney seemed excited."

Clad in jeans, a green top and boots and chewing gum, Spears arrived at the Romanov restaurant with her friend Victoria. Gibson, accompanied by a few friends, soon joined them in the restaurant's private dining room, which features a 24-karat gold leaf ceiling, an ornate fireplace and a library stocked with such works as Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. For two hours the group dined on filet mignon and Russian specialties, and drank water and soft drinks.

Leaving the restaurant for her Studio City home around 8:15, Spears "looked happy," says an observer, "so it seems the meeting was a success."

Does Britney Hate Her Life?

I keep hoping that Britney Spears might be getting better. It's so nice not having her running around like a crazy person with obvious bad influences like Sam Lufti. But, whenever I see pics of her I think she looks kind of....void.

Britney Spears has reportedly confessed to pals: “I hate my life.” Sources say the troubled chart star is bored of being stuck indoors, after dad Jamie ordered her to stay out of the limelight in a last-gasp bid to help her get better. Much to the singers disappointment, he has told her she can’t go to nightclubs or hang out with her paparazzi pals. But according to reports, the restrictions are driving Brit crazy and she is desperate to leave her home. A friend of the Toxic star said that Britney recently sent a text message to them saying:



“I’m so bored. I hate my life. They keep taking my phone away. If my dad knows I’m talking to you he’s going to be upset.”


Dad Jamie Spears won control of his famous daughter’s multi-million dollar estate earlier this month, and he vowed to help his daughter, after she spent time in a US psychiatric ward at the start of the year. But friends say, a typical day of Britney’s involves spending hours alone in her bedroom.

A frequent visitor to the home told how it was “like a princess’ room with several walk-in closets and a spa tub, plus a long counter where she used to keep all her wigs. Apparently Jamie stays in a room downstairs and leaves his daughter alone when she’s in her private suite, while Brit spends hours in front of the mirror trying on different outfits.

“Changing clothes all day long must seem harmless enough, so her dad doesn’t interfere with that. She’ll change three or four times on days when she’s not leaving the house.”

“Her life may seem out of control, but the inside of her house is very ordered. She’s very clean and has no clutter. [But] she seems to genuinely miss the craziness. Sad as it is, she loved that life.”
