Craig's Celeb Studded Week

My very own Craig had so many great celeb sightings in NYC this week. He was there for the network up-fronts. Basically, it's their big show announcing the new season and talking about why you should advertise with them. They usually bring out all the big stars from their network and have fun parties to schmooze the advertisers.

Anyway, Craig was there. I told him he had to keep track of his sightings and to give me his overall impressions of the celeb based on his observations. He did a great job!

The only thing he forgot to mention was that Meredith Viera looked really old. But Ann Curry looked great.

Photobucket(Not this trip, but this is Craig with Dave Navarro. SO FUNNY!)

Tina Fey at Cafe Luxemborg 70th @ Amsterdam, 1:30, Tuesday May 13.

Tina grabs a quick lunch with three others: one woman, two men, all in their mid/late 30's, all good looking and engrossed in conversation.

She does a lot of that loud laughing when she throws her head back and once even slaps the table with her hand.

Looks great, wearing black informal dress, the "I'm smarter than you are glasses" and her regular hair.

She seemed very real.

Holly Hunter and Kyra Sedgwick, Hammerstein Ballroom, Wednesday May 14.

They are on stage as part of the TNT upfront presentation to promote The Closer and Saving Grace.

These ladies are both looking fantastic! I never really had a thing for Holly Hunter, but she was rocking this great green dress and her legs were amazing. Kyra looked good too, but was a little wooden reading from the teleprompter.

Blake Lively and the cast of Gossip Girl at the CW upfront in the tent outside Lincoln Center, Wednesday May 14 approx 5:30 pm.
I now see why this show (and ANTM) singlehandedly keep the CW afloat. Blake, in particular, is shockingly pretty and attractive in a way that makes me feel a bit like a creepy old man.

I will also say that it was hard to distinguish the guys from the girls they are all so femininely assembled. The one main character guy is working hard to steal Zac Effron's look.

Minor Celebs Roughed up at Kanye Show

I actually think this story is funny. Hey man, smoking's not cool.

My dearly beloved saw Kanye perform last night at an up-front party in NYC. He sent me a text message in the middle of the night (it was late!) saying "Kanye is ripping it up" and the pic below. I'll be sure he gives us an in-depth report on his celeb sightings when he gets back. He's had some good ones!

KANYE West's Tuesday night concert at Madison Square Garden turned into a nightmare for celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, who was manhandled and thrown out by three security guards before it even started.

Rihanna, West's opening act, was performing around 9 p.m. when Bloch - whose clients include John Travolta and Salma Hayek - was approached by a tall security guard who ordered him to "take a walk with me." Bloch, who had earlier lit a cigarette but quickly stubbed it out unnoticed, had been talking to a group of pot-smoking teenagers in the row behind him who were passing a pipe among themselves.

"The whole stadium smelled like pot, and the kids behind us were smoking. I'm sitting there having fun, laughing," said Bloch. "Then I get an order to go with this man.

"They say, 'You're leaving, give us your ticket.' I held it up, they took it. At that point they grabbed me by my arms to take me out, so I threw my hands up and said, 'You've got to keep off me. I'm no threat.' "

Page Six witnessed three security guards then spin Bloch around and pin him against the corridor wall. One, who refused to give us his name and flipped his identity pass around so we couldn't see it, gave Bloch a sharp jab in the left rib.

"I had nothing in my pockets, not even a match. They never asked for ID, never asked for my name. It was complete brutality," said Bloch, who was tossed out a side door. "One pushed me out with his knee in my back. I still can't wrap my head around this."

Butter owner Richie Akiva and a gal pal were also stopped on their way backstage. "Security grabbed the girl and yanked her," said a witness. "The guards got hot-headed and he was sticking up for her. They took him to a room to interrogate him."

"MSG policy is if you are caught smoking an illegal substance it's cause for immediate ejection," said Garden rep Barry Watkins.

Celeb Sighting!

And it's a good one! My good buddy, Steven Cloud saw Catherine Zeta Jones today! He says she looks "really good." Is that "really good" for a woman who is clearly in her mid to late 40's? Or "really good" like she actually can pass for late 30's?

Regardless of her age - it's still a good one. And check out Cloud's comic. The link is under "Blogs I like." Except it links to his comic. Not his blog. But there's a blog there, too!

I just saw Catherine Zeta-Jones at Pop Burger on 9th ave filming a new movie called "Rebound".

She was wearing a green top and looked really good.

Here's info on the place:

I used to be good, but now it's just overpriced mini-burgers.

Drew Carey and Moby in Chicago on Thursday

My friend Mark had a couple of good celeb sightings last night! He was kind enough to share his experience and photos with us!

Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me (http://www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/), the NPR weekly radio show, featured two big celebrities last night; Drew Carey (the new Price is Right host) and Moby (Eclectic Musician with scores of catchy commercial tunes).

Normally, the weekly taping of Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me has a moderate showing; audience members are more than likely followers of the weekly satirical news show that enjoy host, Peter Sagal’s unique slant on current hot issues. But, this week, news must have leaked that Drew Carey would be a guest panelist, and Moby, the guest celebrity, because hordes of suddenly fans of the Chicago NPR show queued up early to catch sight of last nights famous guests.

The Inside View (Mark Murrell, Nowinchicago.com)
I am quite familiar NPRs Saturday morning show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, but my mother is a huge fan and happen to be coming for a visit this week and was not about to miss last nights taping.

So, what about the celebrities. Let’s start with Drew Carey, the newly appointed face of the oldest game show in American history, The Price is Right. Drew seemed very mellow and when asked why he was a panelist, he replied, “Well, I love the show, I listen every week, right after Car Talk (two Boston brothers who talk cars for an hour each week.) and I had been on Car Talk a couple of times and I thought it would be cool to be a panelist on Wait Wait. Besides, I only work 3 days-a-week for about 6 hours a day, so I have some time on my hands.” Drew was cool, funny, and quite witty and proved to have some knowledge of what is going on in the national media. All in all, he is down to earth and when I snuck in for a photo he was quite cordial.

How about Moby? We don’t get to learn much about Moby. The most I have seen about Moby has been random MTV interviews, or on Cribs, where he was portrayed as this strange Vegan, hate the world, skinny, bald, white guy with a knack for creating unique scores for commercials (which is how he broke into the mainstream music scene). But, in fact, he is cool, a bit anxious, but smart, crazy smart and had a great wit that mirrored that of Peter Sagal so the two of the spent a lot of time bantering back and forth, quite entertaining. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but Moby used to date Natalie Portman, and when asked what kind of music he listened to while engaged in relations with her, Moby replied, “Romantic music like Pantera or Black Sabbath.” This response created a roar in the crowd.

Real-Life Celeb Spottings

If you've got 'em send them to me!! I don't care if they're old or new. Or B-list. Cuz...welll....I haven't really told you guys about me being the Queen of B-List Celeb Sightings.

My friend, Vanessa, was in LA last week and she had some awesome ones! Here's what she said about who she saw:

April 8
Was in LA for 48 hours for a boring as hell Forrester conference.
Barely left the 3 block radius of the hotel. The ONE night we did
leave was to have dinner somewhere fab. We ended up at Cut at the Reg
Bev Wil (how very Pretty Woman).

Spotted: J.T. (right mother fucking next to me which freaked me out).
He was sitting in a booth bordering ours, separated by a 2 ft glass
divider. I wanted to tossle his hair, but I resisted. LOL. He was with
two dudes and looking at his mobile phone a lot. One looked like his
bodyguard or something. Like I said he was much more fuckable in
person. I've never been one of those girls super into him, but now I
am. He is also taller and just more manly in person. Before I could
not get the image of him with the tight curls and blonde tipped hair
from his Britney years. Now, he's actually fuckable.

When he got up to leave he stopped to chit chat with girls at a few
tables (total dogs) and was saying hello to everyone. There were no
gawkers...he just seemed like a regular, friendly dude and everyone in
the restaurant was chill, but his presence was felt. No paprazzi or
weird fan stalkers anywhere. The photogs are not allowed in the
breezeway at the hotel...perhaps this was why so many celebs were
there. Not sure.

Then on his way out he walks over to this other table and surprise,
Ellen D stands up and gives him a big hug. Very geniune. We did not
know she was there until this happened. Then we come to notice Portia
was there as well. She's hot...really. We actually were at the
restaurant for hours and they were STILL there when we left ...
drinking wine and dining with what some Asian business men. The other
slightly odd thing is that Ellen and Portia were not seated directly
next to each other at the table. Odd.

At the table just behind me sat Rita Wilson with some of her
girlfriends. She had a very down-to-earth vibe about her.

Okay, that's about it. Oh yes and Oliver stone was at this place
called Craft (where we were prior to Cut). He was wasted.

Good times.

How awesome is that??
