Jodie Foster Ends 14 Year Relationship

I hate to say it, but the National Enquirer is usually right.

Jodie Foster is a single woman — after ending her 14-year lesbian relationship with her film producer girlfriend Cydney Bernard.

Just 4 months ago the Panic Room actress, 45, opened up for the first time about the relationship, which was long an open secret in movie circles.

While she was collecting an award, Foster pointedly thanked: “My beautiful Cydney, who sticks by me through all the rotten and the bliss.”

But now, according to the National Enquirer magazine, the couple — who met on the set of 1993 film Sommersby; and have two children six-year-old Kit, and Charlie, nine, have gone their separate ways.

A source said: “Jodie’s break up with Cydney is shocking.

“She and Cydney have been together for so many years and have two children together - the potential fallout and legal wrangling from this could be monumental.”

For many years the couple wore matching Tiffany eternity rings on their wedding fingers, and Bernard was with the actress throughout both her labors.

Friends say the two-time Academy Award-winning star has refused to employ household staff for fear that details of her home life would leak out.

She refuses to answer the telephone and until recently did not have a mobile phone.

She has remained terrified of stalkers, say those in her circle, ever since John Hinckley — who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981 — claimed he had planned the killing to impress her.
